To call Nick Benson a stone carver is a little like calling Louis Comfort Tiffany a glazier. Technically, you’d be correct, but there’s a lot more to it.
Benson hails from a family of stone carvers who have worked out of the John Stevens Shop in Newport, Rhode Island since the 1920’s. Nick’s grandfather and father designed and/or carved inscriptions for Yale, Harvard and Brown http://blog.sculpture.org/2014/06/11/nick-benson-inscriptions/#more-3851
