In 2015, the Italian stone industry exported nearly four million tons of natural stone to the rest of the world, recording a value that, for the first time since the advent of the euro, exceeded two billion euro. These are the numbers reported by the Internazionale Marmi e Macchine Carrara study and research department that, like every year, analyses and processes the ISTAT data on foreign trade for the Italian natural stone industry.The growth in value of 6.3% compared to 2014, despite a decline of 5% in quantity, testifies the significant increase in the average unit value of the products exported. In fact, in 2015 the average value of quality raw materials and finished products amounted to 665 euro per ton, showing an increase of 10% compared to 2014.
