in Camlica Hill

This TV-Radio tower designed by architects Ahmet Unveren and Seckin Maden will be located on the great Camlica Hill – Istanbul, which has an altitude of 240 meters above  sea level. The site consists of 120.000m²  in a natural reserve protected  by the government. The project aims to be an innovative 350 meter high tower that would clean the overall mess of the current TV and radio antennas on the site.
The project is based on the duality of the natural protected site and the tower. This duality comes up with: functional trauma, formal trauma, and spatial trauma. Instead of accepting the disconnection and fixing it; the intention is to utilize the tower as the functional and formal continuation of the natural protected site.

Hydropolis in Hong Kong

Set in world’s densest metropolis of Hong Kong, Hydropolis, a student project by Yoonsun Hwang and Lois Soo Kyung Suh of PennDesign challenges common understanding of skyscrapers by provoking the existing typology. Vertical mega-structure is proposed for a reclaimed site at the harbor of Hong Kong, therefore the uniqueness of the location demanded high aesthetic qualities and representative design. Emerging organic form yet floating and light presence characterize this monumental high-rise that creates new waterfront line for the harbor.

an Algorithm Terminal

This project for a new bus terminal near San Francisco’s Bay Bridge was conceived as an investigation on parametric design and Voronoi algorithms. The project was developed by Bin Lu and Joongsik Yang at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (Sci-Arc) as a urban strategy that considers scripting, parametric design, and sustainable technologies as a design tool that produces form through the analysis of environmental, urban, and economic data.

a Landmark beyond

ThyssenKrupp Headquarters in Essen, Germany, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, is a landmark architecture, awarded third prize in an open international two-phase competition. The winning designs were chosen during the deciding two-day panel meeting at the Zollverein School of Management and Design. Its unique, technical-innovative and organic form promotes the values of ThyssenKrupp. Centrifugal field acts as an outline of the buildings and the surrounding landscape. This polished development creates the atmosphere of dune landscapes or glacier fields. The aim was to create iconic architectural piece that would be acknowledged beyond the borders of Essen.
